In the year 2000, under the patronage of our President Süleyman Demirel, the 1st International Thalassemia Summer School was organized in Antalya.
In 2002, under the patronage of President Rauf Denktaş, the 2nd International Thalassemia Summer School was organized in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC).
In 2004, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Turkish Blood Centers Transfusion Society, and the European School of Transfusion Medicine, the 3rd International Thalassemia Summer School was organized in Antalya.
In 2006, 2008, and 2013, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Turkish Thalassemia Federation, the 4th, 5th, and 6th International Thalassemia Summer Schools were organized in Antalya.
In the year 2000, under the coordination of our Ministry of Health and our foundation, all associations and foundations came together to establish the National Hemoglobinopathy Council.
The Council held six meetings to enact the National Hemoglobinopathy Regulation.
In 2003, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Governorship of Mersin, 33 Provincial Health Directorates, the Turkish Hematology Association, and the National Hemoglobinopathy Council, the National Hemoglobinopathy Prevention Program was initiated in Mersin.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the World Thalassemia Federation, and the Turkish Thalassemia Federation, the 12th World Thalassemia Congress was held in Antalya from May 11 to May 14, 2011. Participants from 60 countries attended the congress, with a total of 3000 people.
